Had my first audition, and as if that wasn't awesome enough, it was hosted at the famous Joining All Movement gym! This was such a great learning experience as the audition was for a mocap role. During the audition I learned the importance of body moment and detail that comes with being on a mocap team. I came out knowing way more than when I started. Plus, getting to hone and show some of my parkour skills at such a renowned gym as JAM was an experience in its own right.
When the auditions started and people were being called up to either display parkour skills or weapon skills, there was a calm hush that fell over everyone. Seeing a lot of skilled people go up and give it their all was very motivating and an experience in it's own right. To be surrounded by people with the same goals and drives fills the room with an electric energy. You can feel the focus and intensity that only comes from a group of people chasing and sharing their passions. There were some displays that were so next level that I couldn't help but be wowed by them.
One in particular was a short girl with a staff that walked up super slow and shy, but the second she started her routine, a fiery confidence came out in every movement she made. The second she finished, the whole room burst into applause. It was a collective wow moment. I couldn't help but think "I cant wait too be on her level."
For being my first audition, I don't think I could've asked for a better one. Whether the role is mine or not, the knowledge, the contacts, and the experience I got from the day is priceless. I look forward to the next time I get to experience JAM jitters...
STAY TUNED for the next exciting experience!
