First time on set... The phrase that causes even the most prepared people to have a swarm of butterflies go off in their stomach. I got the chance to be on set and help out with

a small production's night shoot for a movie. Not gonna give the story away, but the scene was a deeply dramatic moment between conflicted brothers. Getting to help set this scene (moving gear, setting up lighting, and getting to see behind the camera) was an amazing lesson.
Seeing and helping all the work that goes into setting up a shot was a great hands on experience. Also, getting a chance to see beyond the field of stunt work was astounding. Learning how to use light to make a more dramatic environment, using cuts and angles to tell a story, and how to be consistent for the camera was included in the experience. Being on this set really struck all those lessons home for me. Lessons which I can transfer over into my stunt career, making me a better stuntman for future jobs.
It also gave me a new major respect for actors. The scene required the characters to smoke, which meant each new take, the actors had to go through herbal cigarette after herbal cigarette, all the while still producing the same consistent voice for their character. It was an impressive feat! I also had a fun moment getting to be a stand in for one of the actors while the crew adjusted lighting. Being part of the creative team that made such an intense scene was really quite the experience. Although, the scene could've used a high fall or a burn, but that might just be my stunt side showing.
I am very appreciative to the crew for letting me help them, and having the patience to teach me. They made my first time on set an incredible one, and I am looking forward to making the next time on set even better. Hopefully with more fight scenes.
STAY TUNED for the next exciting experience!
